Overview:
The Accompanist assists the Chorale Music Director or FSO Music Director by providing piano, organ, or other specified keyboard accompaniment for all rehearsals and performances of the FSO Chorale. The Accompanist must be self-motivated, prepared, organized, detail oriented, collegial, and articulate. Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. Prior experience preferred.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Plays piano, organ, and/or other specified keyboard instrument and assists with other forms of accompaniment for FSO Chorale concerts, workshops, festivals, retreats, programs, or other activities.
• Schedule will involve night and weekend performances/assignments.
• Plays choral parts singularly and together.
• Participates or leads sectional rehearsals.
• Works closely with FSO Chorale Music Director.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education & Training: One year of experience as a professional accompanist for choruses, soloists, dance groups, or as a pianist with a recognized musical organization. (Graduation from an accredited school of music with specialization in piano may be substituted for the desired experience.)

Knowledge Skills & Ability:
• Must have basic understanding of Choral Music.
• Basic music theory including the fundamentals of harmony and notation.
• Effective methods and techniques of piano accompaniment.
• Fundamentals of proper musical sight reading techniques and methods.
• Effectively play a variety of musical forms on the piano including classical, popular, jazz, folk, and gospel music.
• Understand and follow a variety of complex and technical oral and written instructions.
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal relation skills.
• Manage multiple priorities and tasks with frequent interruptions.
